Valentine’s Day Garland

I have never been one to decorate for Valentine’s day.  It’s not my favorite holiday by any means, but this year I have decided that I want to decorate for it anyway.  Maybe it’s because the house feels so empty now that the Christmas decorations or gone, or maybe I’ve just been bit by the decoration bug.  Whatever the reason I’m going for it, and I have officially made my very first decoration for the holiday!

Valentine's Day Garland

When I was a little girl my parents used to give us small gifts for Valentine’s Day.  One of my favorite gifts I received was a snow globe of The Phantom of the Opera that played a favorite song of mine, “All I Ask Of You”.  It’s one of my favorite musicals and I remember playing the song over and over again.   That little snow globe was the inspiration for this project, and I decided to print out love songs from a few of my favorite musicals to display them around my home.  It’s such an easy project and I’m so excited to share it with you!

  • Heart punch
  • Sheet Music (I used 5 different songs)
  • Jute
  • Hot glue

The longest part of this project is punching out all the hearts.  Just don’t do what I did and punch from the top of the paper down.  It means all of your words will be upside down, like this:

Luckily I realized what I did halfway through and switched things around.  Still kind of annoying though.

Each song got their own string of jute, so I ended up with five different strings of garland.  I bent each heart in half also, that way they they would all hang a bit different once I glued them to the jute.

This project was so simple and it was a fun afternoon craft to do.  I cannot wait to finish decorating for Valentine’s Day now, and I am so excited about this garland!  Do you decorate for Valentine’s Day?
