Thanksgiving Glitter Leaf Name Cards

Hey friends! It’s Madison from The Wetherills Say I Do here again with a fun holiday themed project for you! I am trying to get ahead of the game this year with this fun Thanksgiving themed project.

It’s hard to believe we are quickly passing Halloween and moving full speed ahead towards Thanksgiving. I’ve never been one for anything remotely scary, so Thanksgiving always takes priority for me. This year, I’m so excited to be hosting a big group for dinner. Because of that, I’m having to make extra preparations aside from just buying food. One fun thing I wanted to do, though, was incorporate a way to use name tags on our tablescape.

Glitter tends to get a bad rep, but I’ll be honest, I love it! I’m going through a particularly girly phase I guess because of my love of gold and glitter! We are having my brother and father-in-law over for the holiday plus one of our couple friends, so since there will only be two women, I’m taking the initiative to add some girly and glitter into Thanksgiving.

For these festive name cards you’ll need:

  • Leaves (I just used fake ones purchased at a craft store)
  • Glitter
  • Mod Podge
  • Foam Brush
  • Letters (I actually would not recommend these foam ones that I used. After using them I’d definitely recommend something that will stick closer to the letters, maybe a vinyl cut out)

Prep the leaves by adhering the letters to the leaves. You want to make sure there is a really good seal on the leaves so the Mod Podge and glitter don’t seep in.

Next apply a layer of Mod Podge to the leaf, covering it and being sure to fill in small crevices around the letter. Let sit for 5 minutes to dry then share off the excess glitter. Once the leaves are totally dry, apply a second coat of Mod Podge to seal the glitter (you can also spray hair spray over the leaf to seal). Now you’re ready for a festive Thanksgiving tablescape!

How are you decorating for Thanksgiving? Do you love glitter as much as I do?
