Painted Toe Valentine’s Heels

Painted Toe Valentine’s Heels

It’s all in the shoes, as any fashionista will tell you.   They make the outfit, they turn heads, they can make you feel like a million bucks.  As Bette Midler has touted, “Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world. “I mean look what they did for little Cinderella!”

Now, if a new pair of shoes can do so much, just think where a refurbished do-it-yourself pair could take you?  Let me tell you from first hand experience that when I stepped out in my “Painted Toe Valentine’s Heels”, I felt on top of the world.  I was walking on cloud-nine.  The complements seemed to appear from nowhere, “where did you get those?” I heard more than once and I got to reply, smile-wide, “Well I was going to toss these old heels but I decided to give them a few more miles; I painted them myself.”  Not only are you stylish and thrifty but crafty to boot! (Pun intended!)

I choose a sweet cherry red on a pair of old kitten heels I was getting ready to send to the big ol’ shoe closet in the sky.  I wanted to have something special and fun to wear when I dance the night away with my love on Valentines Day.  But don’t let my pictures box you in,  this craft would look stunning in any color!  After I was done I immediately wanted to pull out my paints and find another pair to do in a neon hue to usher in the summer.  This would look fantastic on flats, platforms, rounded toes or pointed.   What a fun way to show a little painted toe when it’s oh so cold out!  So raid that closet and lets have some fun little a little peep of color in the last days of winter!

You Will Need

  • One pair of heels
  • Acrylic paint in white and your choice of color
  • Sponge Paintbrush
  • Painters or masking tape

To Do

  1. Make sure the shoes are clean and dry
  2. Tape off a section of the toes
  3. Paint two coats of base white paint letting each coat dry completely
  4. Paint several coats of your color choice until desired effect is reached

Step out on the town and show the world those painted toes!
