Easy Valentine-Themed Canvas Art

Hello! It’s Erin again, back from The Blue Eyed Dove. I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are enjoying the first part of 2015!

January always feels like such a long month, but it seems to be flying by this year. Which is certainly not a bad thing. Plus, that means Valentine’s Day is right around the corner…yay!

Being the girly girl that I am, I’m a sucker for a holiday that is centered around love, hearts…and of course lots of pink 😉

So, in the spirit of Valentine’s Day {and love in general} I thought I’d share an easy canvas art project with you today.

Supplies:

  • 12 x 12 inch Canvas
  • Frog Tape
  • Paint
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue Stick
  • Mod Podge
  • Ruler

Directions:

1. Determine the size of the stripes you will add to the canvas. I decided to make three large gold stripes, and spaced each of the stripes about 2 1/2 inches apart.

2. Add the frog tape to the canvas covering the stripes you would like to leave white.

3. Paint the stripes on the canvas. {I used spray paint because it’s quick, easy and dries pretty.} Let the painted stripes dry.

4. Once the stripes are dry, carefully remove the frog tape.

5. Next, glue your letters onto the scrapbook paper, and then cut them out. {I used Times New Roman font, bold, size 400 for my letters.} Note: If you print your letters from a Word document like I did, it’s easier to cut them out and glue face down onto the scrapbook paper. This way you can flip them over and avoid seeing a traced line.

6. Then place your letters on the center of the canvas to determine your spacing. I spaced my letters about 2 3/4 inches from the edge of the canvas.

7. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the back of the each letter, and attach to the canvas.

8. Lastly, apply a thin layer of Mod Podge on top of each letter to seal.

And that’s it!
