DIY Red Burlap Wreath

I know we still have a week or so until Thanksgiving, but I’m already getting into the Christmas craft spirit. 🙂

Today I wanted to show you my new Red Burlap Christmas Wreath.

Isn’t she pretty? I just love decorating with burlap and this festive wreath may look complicated but it took me all of about an hour to make.

You will only need three things to complete this craft:

-one wire floral wreath

-red burlap

-a decorative ornament

The first step is to take the end of your burlap and wrap it tightly around a middle wire on the wreath. It doesn’t have to be pretty, you just want it to hold. Next take your burlap and place it flat underneath the frame.

Next you gently push the burlap up through the back to make a little loop.

Once you have your loop, you repeat the steps again alternating rows in the wire frame. You also want to squish the loops close together as you go. I try to make the area between the vertical wires really tight before moving on to the next section.

After you’ve made your way all around the wreath, it’s time to go back and fluff a few loops.

The last step is to add your ornament. I found this burlap flower at Target and I thought it was the perfect accessory for my wreath. It comes with a metal clip, so attaching it to the wreath is super simple. It’s like a burlap match made in heaven! 🙂

And that’s it. You can adjust the look of this wreath buy using different widths of burlap. I made a fall wreath a few months ago but the burlap width was almost double in size. It made a much bigger loop look. I think I really like the more narrow burlap because the loops are much tighter and more even looking.

So feel free to have fun and experiment with different colors and sizes! Happy holiday decorating!
