DIY Halloween Pumpkin Bats

bat-o-lanterns

These adorable bats are the perfect addition to your Halloween decorations. I love this because they are so cute and so super easy! They are a fun craft to do with your kids (preschool and up.)

You can use the pdf for the cut outs, or try your hand at just cutting your own style of bat wings. I’m sure either way, your bats will look fab for Halloween!

What you need:

  • Black acrylic paint
  • Ornamental (miniature) pumpkins
  • Black and white craft foam
  • Wings,ears & eyes template
  • Hole punch
  • Glue dots
  • Black duct tape
  • Toothpicks
  • Wooden skewers

Directions

1. Place a newspaper or cloth over your table and paint your pumpkins and allow them to completely dry.

2. Use the pdf to print off your wings and eyes  trace and cut them out with our black craft foam for the wings and white craft foam for the eyes. Use a hole punch to punch out to make the pupils.

3.  Adhere the eyes to the pumpkin with glue dots.

4.  Attach the ears by taping a toothpick to the back of each one, leaving about 1 1/2 inches of the toothpick exposed, then inserting it into the top of the pumpkin.

5. To attach the wings, tape a skewer to the back of each wing, leaving a 2-inch point exposed, and push it into the pumpkin on each side.
