“UP” Inspired Adventure Map

Hey y’all! It’s Madison from The Wetherills Say I Do again. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten to hang out with you guys so I’m excited to be here!

Does anyone remember the movie Up? I know it’s been a while since it came out but it is seriously one of my all-time-favorite Disney movies! One of our good friends had a two year old around the time that the movie came out and she would quote the part where Ellie says “Adventure is out there!” Except she was two so it came out as “A-denture is out there!” My husband and I quote that all the time!

Cute Outdoor Trash Can

Hello! It is Lindsay from My Creative Days here to share my cute outdoor trash can! I know, “cute” and “trash can” don’t really go together, but I promise, this time they do. 🙂

I don’t know about you, but during the spring and summer months, our family eats a lot of meals outside; from the kids taking snacks outside to grilling meals and eating on the picnic blanket. With that, comes a lot of extra trash floating around the yard during these months.

Since our regular garbage cans are on the other side of the garage, the kids “forget” to put their trash in them. This year, I am making it so easy that they can’t “forget” anymore.

I picked up this little trash can (it stands about 15″ tall) at a yard sale. I thought it would make the perfect trash can for our back yard.

To make this trash can “cute”, I painted it red.

To make the purpose of this little can more obvious to everybody, I screwed a small chalkboard on the outside and wrote “trash” with a white permanent marker.

The Family Jar {Including Free Printable Labels}

Family Jar Free Printable Labels My Crafty Spot

Recently I entered some mason jar labels into the World Label Mason Jar Competition. The grande prize is a new macbook and if you saw the state of my current macbook you would be rooting for me BIG TIME. I got this fabulous Family Jar concept from my cousin Lani, scroll down to read about her son Dean and the Worry Jar. After entering these labels into the competition I decided I should share them on My Crafty Spot! I think they turned out really beautiful and I felt it would be great to use them for other things so a blank version is also available for download {links below}. For these family jar labels you simply print them out and put them on a few different mason jars for family use around the house.

DIY String Art

string-art-staged

String art is one of those DIY projects I have always loved but I’ve been too intimidated to try. I convinced myself it was too hard, too tedious or that I just couldn’t do it. Well I finally got the nerve and boy, let me tell you, I was wrong. It is beyond easy. Let me be clear, this could definitely become a tedious and difficult project, but it certainly doesn’t have to be. I plan to make a more complicated design now that I have done an easy one. Let’s get started!

First you’ll need a design idea. State outlines are incredibly popular and that’s exactly what I did. I’ve also seen designs where there is a heart in the location of the city you’re from within a certain state. You can also choose a word, a shape like a flower or bird, etc. I chose to do my home state, New Mexico 🙂

Next, you’ll need some supplies:

You’ll want to cut out your design so that there is no white background. If you’re a heart for a city, I’d recommend cutting the heart shape out of the paper, too. Then you’ll want to place your design on top of your cork or wood. If you’re using a cork square, I recommend gluing two squares together first. This will make sure that your board is secure and your nails don’t go completely through the first board.
