Little Mermaid Costume Tutorial

little-mermaid-halloween-costume

This might be one of the cutest little girl halloween costumes I have ever seen. It isn’t too complicated and it will be truly loved by any little girl who gets to show it off.

This tutorial is from Lindsay at www.twobobbinslater.com. She actually made two costumes because her daughter wanted to wear the one she made constantly, so she made another so the original would stay nice for a night of trick-or-treating.

Little Mermaid is a movie that is still loved today. I couldn’t get enough of that movie when I was a child, and it is so cute to me to see that it is still a fave of the kids today.

This is a two part tutorial. In the first tutorial, Lindsay shows you step-by-step how to make the leotard with the seashells.

In part two, Lindsay shows you how to make the Little Mermaid Skirt. This couldn’t’ be easier, especially the way Lindsay explains each step in detail with an accompanied photo.

bat-o-lanterns

These adorable bats are the perfect addition to your Halloween decorations. I love this because they are so cute and so super easy! They are a fun craft to do with your kids (preschool and up.)

You can use the pdf for the cut outs, or try your hand at just cutting your own style of bat wings. I’m sure either way, your bats will look fab for Halloween!

DIY Glow-in-the-Dark Friendly Ghosts

Glow-in-the-dark friendly ghost craft

Don’t be scared! It’s just the crafty maven from Club ChicaCircle with another crafty DIY. This one is sure to get you in the Halloween spirit.

This one is super simple—perfect for any age, or even a Halloween-themed classroom project idea.

I started with plain wood candle holders. I found a pack of 6 at the my local Michaels. Then, all you need is white acrylic paint, glow-in-the-dark paint, a spongebrush, and a permanent black marker to create your own friendly ghost collection.

I used Americana Snow White and Americana Glow-in-the-dark paint from DecoArt.

DIY Decorative Pumpkins

Halloween is it for me.  It’s the only holiday there really is to me.  When I die I would like my obituary to read, “That broad threw one hell of a Halloween Party.”  It’s true.  Some little girls want to grow up to be astronauts, to swim from Florida to Cuba, to be the next President of America or to twerk on the big stage, not me.  I want to throw the best Halloween Party in town, a party where you can disappear into your costume and the conversation and allow yourself to dissolve into the spirit and the spook of the night.

It’s fair to say that I start thinking and planning, scheming and dreaming about All Hallows Eve long before the day arrives.   This year is even more special, for it marks the first Halloween Party that I will throw in a house of my very own. Not a little party that I “make work” in my Manhattan studio, though those parties were EPIC, not a party that I threw with my housemates, even though they were AMAZING!  No, this party is mine and mine alone and the possibilities are endless.  I just hope my husband is prepared for the glory and gore, the beauty and the scary, the whimsy and the wickedness, the trick and the treat that will become our home for the next month and a half.  It’s going to be the beginning, the foundation of the epitaph of my life.  It has begun!
