Easy Onesies Baby Shower Banner

Onesies Banner Header

Hi Crafters! It’s Erin, back this month from The Blue Eyed Dove. And this month I have a little confession to make…when it comes to parties I am obsessed with making easy banners.

{Not convinced? Check out some of my banners here, here and here.}

Last week I helped decorate for a baby shower, well let me rephrase that…a baby boy shower. In case you haven’t noticed when it comes to searching for something acceptable to use for a baby boy shower the scrapbook paper selection is sorta limited. I went to two different craft stores in search of the perfect paper and only came up with two coordinating selections. Two…that’s it. Thank goodness my creative juices started flowing and I decided to go with a solid piece of scrapbook paper and make up something of my own for the third piece.

Let me just preface this tutorial now by saying I love the way this banner turned out! Now, onto how everything came together…

Pearl Vase Bouquet

Pearl Vase Bouquet

“For a moment Anne’s heart fluttered queerly and for the first time her eyes faltered under Gilbert’s gaze and a rosy flush stained the paleness of her face. It was as if a veil that had hung before her inner consciousness had been lifted, giving to her view a revelation of unsuspected feelings and realities. Perhaps, after all, romance did not come into one’s life with pomp and blare, like a gay knight riding down; perhaps it crept to one’s side like an old friend through quiet ways; perhaps it revealed itself in seeming prose, until some sudden shaft of illumination flung athwart its pages betrayed the rhythm and the music, perhaps. . . perhaps. . .love unfolded naturally out of a beautiful friendship, as a golden-hearted rose slipping from its green sheath. ”

Personalized Wrapping Paper.

craftyspotI live in a studio apartment so I don’t have a lot of room for a ton of wrapping paper and accessories. I’ve also learned that a personalized touch to anything, especially gifts, always means a lot (you can read more about this and this specific gift here at my blog, Flowers in my Hair).

For this project you will need, brown wrapping paper and glitter pens. You can use glitter and glue but that’s a messy situation. Also, I just have to say no one does glitter like Martha Stewart. Once you go Martha Stewart glitter, you never go back.

Umbrella Wreath – Full of Blooms

The weather is starting to change; you can feel it in your bones.  You can hear it as the migratory birds start to return, filling the sky with their birdsong.  You start to see your fall bulbs push through the earth, bringing a bright array of colors to your still-winter stark yard, enticing a smile to spread across your face.  Maybe it’s still cold and gloomy six days a week but that one day, that the sun comes out and shines on your white winter skin, brings you a feeling you can’t quite describe.  Perhaps it’s hope or excitement; maybe it’s just the increase in vitamin D.  Whatever it is, you know that spring is on the way and with the long dark winter you have had this year, you couldn’t be more excited to help usher it in.

To help bring it closer I have a fantastic craft idea:  an Umbrella Wreath – Full of Blooms!  I wish I had seen this sweet idea when I lived in an apartment.  I always longed for spring bulbs.  With this craft you can bring the spring inside!  I also love how simple this craft is and it can be done quickly with supplies that are easy to get.  You can hang it on your front door or inside if it’s still a bit too cold in your neck of the woods.  No matter where it hangs, it will certainly escort spring into your life with vibrancy and enthusiasm.
