DIY Jewelry Box – Clearance Upcycle!

Jewelry box created from Target clearance box - check out the before!

Hi again! It’s Melissa from A Prudent Life back with another fun upcycle project for you! For those of you that don’t know me, I’m a wee bit obsessed with Target clearance stickers AND Hobby Lobby 50% off ribbon sales. Today I’m sharing how I combined my two loves into an awesome jewelry box!

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I scored another load of awesome ribbon a few weeks ago. I also picked up some wooden storage boxes at Target for $2.84!

The box started off multiple shades of green. I decided to paint it, then bling up the top.

After painting the box black with basic craft paint, I switched up from the gold ribbon you see above to a sparkly faux diamond version.

DIY Nautical Frame

Simple DIY Anchor Art Tutorial

Hi all – I’m Melissa from A Prudent Life and I’m so excited to show you my newest creation. Along with the rest of the world, I’ve been on a serious nautical kick lately. I’ve got the boat shoes in my wardrobe and just finished a DIY rope anchor for my wall.

This project is extremely easy and inexpensive – which is my favorite combination. I started with a $1 plain frame from Michaels, some small craft sticks from the Dollar Tree, and leftover cork drawer liner.

I traced the frame onto the cork and cut it out with scissors and an Exacto knife. I used two types of glue to make sure the cork stayed on the frame. First, I used spray glue to get some instant adhesion. Then, I used Fast Grab craft glue because it is stronger than the spray glue long term.

Dollar Store Decor: Spring PomPom Balls

Dollar Store Pom Pom Ball Decor Pinnable Image

Whimsical isn’t my style three seasons out of the year, but in the spring, I always crave decor touches that are unexpectedly fun. When I found pompoms in perfect colors at the Dollar Tree, I knew they could fill my spring whimsy craving.

I wandered around the store looking for more inspiration, and ended up in the pet section! That’s were we all shop for craft projects, right? My wandering paid off and I found a three pack of small doggy 1″ balls, and a two pack of big dog tennis balls. A project was born – Spring PomPom Decorative Balls!

Look how pretty everything looked dumped out on my craft table! If you follow me on Instagram you already got to see this preview a few weeks ago. I’m sure you were wondering if I was ever going to show you what I made.
